r/writersmakingfriends Subreddit Rules
Be respectful (no harassment or hate speech).
Be kind and respectful. Treat all members and their work with courtesy.
Follow Reddit’s sitewide rules.
Unofficial groups & servers
We love seeing members form their own writing circles, Discord servers, or other off-platform groups to keep the conversation going. Just remember these are member-run and unofficial — they’re not moderated, endorsed, or affiliated with this community. Join or share them at your own discretion. Links to external writing-related groups such as Discord servers, Slack communities, or Google Docs for collaboration or critique permitted.
Sharing Your Writing
Share your work as slides, images, open-access links (Google Docs, etc.), or third-party sites (Royal Road, Wattpad, etc.). A free Notion hub (linked in the Community Guide) is also available. All content there is unmoderated—use at your discretion. Or just post text directly in your Reddit post.
Other Post Types
Posts must directly help writers connect, learn, or support each other. (That includes writing-related questions, tips, memes, or resources—but only when they spark real discussion and community, not just self-promotion.)
Keep It Original
We don’t police what you do with your own writing, but copying others’ work, stealing content, or passing off AI text without saying so isn’t allowed.
Label NSFW content.
Give folks a heads-up. If your post has adult themes, graphic details, or anything that might get someone in trouble at work, tag it NSFW and add a clear warning before the content.
No Unsolicited DMs or Spam
Keep it respectful. Don’t slide into someone’s inbox unless they’ve asked you to, and leave the spam at the door.
Advertising
Posting links or mentions of other subreddits (e.g., r/writing, r/books) is not allowed in r/writersmakingfriends. Authors may post links to subreddits they personally created for their own work.
Links to external writing-related groups or personal author sites are permitted.
This keeps the subreddit focused on our community while still allowing members to connect.
