Be excellent to each other

We want r/sanfrancisco to be the best of what San Francisco has to offer. Treat each other with respect, and be inclusive with your comments. The people you’re interacting with aren’t just names on a screen; they’re neighbors who love this city as much as you. We’ll remove any comment that is intolerant, insulting, or hateful, particularly othering any individual or outgroup as second-class citizens or subhuman. Threats of violence, even in "jest", will result in an immediate, permanent ban.

Don’t just promote; join the community

We're a city of creators, artists, weirdos, and activists; discuss what interests you and makes you interesting: your restaurant, your band, your political activism. As you do, please respect those with different points of view, converse with the people who reply, and stick around to engage with our community across a wide range of topics. Oh, and if you have an affiliation with something you're promoting, that's fine; just declare it loudly and proudly.

Put a little effort into your question

If you're visiting our wonderful city, we're excited to have you and show you around! However, we get a lot of the same questions over and over, so please search here and /r/asksf before asking, and try to give as much of your time to the question as you're expecting others to put into their answers. For example, if you want to ask, "What should I do if I have X hours in SF?", tell us about things you like, things you've enjoyed in other places, things that are different where you come from, etc

Let’s build something we’re proud of!

We have a quarter-million subscribers… how can you use them to make SF a better place? Use this subreddit to organize volunteer work and donations. Treat it as a gallery for your SF artwork. Gather a crowd for some bizarre stunt. Organize Zoom meetups on a slow Friday night. Message the mods with ideas for an AMA. A large portion of our city is here, and we all have an opportunity to make San Francisco a better place together!
