This sub is a space for conversation and discussion, especially of more controversial topics. If you'd like to post a meme or selfie, post it to one of the linked subs! If you have a basic question, try r/asktransgender.

If you start a discussion, try not to get upset if people respond in a way you weren't expecting or voice disagreement. This is a place for honesty, hence the name r/HonestTransgender. That being said, honesty does not mean cruelty. Be kind in your responses.

Be Excellent To Each Other

This is a sub for the honest exchange of ideas and perspectives, not a sub for the "honest" exchange of barbs and attacks. Save it for 4chan. Comments that are insulting & excessively rude to other users will be removed, and you will be asked to restate your idea in kinder terms.

Please refer to other subscribers by their indicated pronouns. Be civil; debate the idea, not the person. Suicide baiting is an automatic ban, so don't do it.

This Space Is For Trans People

This sub's main purpose is to provide a space for trans people to freely express themselves. Cisgender people should be here to learn, not so speak over trans people, and should select the "cisgender" flair for themselves or the "questioning" flair if it is more appropriate. Rude cis people will be banned.

As a space of free expression for trans people, we hope to never ban trans users, but repeated violation of the rules may result in a ban.

Don't Deny the Existence of Trans People

Posts and comments that state some variation of "'x' trans people aren't really trans" will be removed. It's fine to be skeptical, but it's not fine to outright deny the existence of MtF, FtM, or NB people OR say that they are not trans. Try instead saying "I don't understand 'x' trans people."

Account Age, Karma, & Flairs

To cut down on transphobes, trolls, etc. posting in this space in bad faith, brand new accounts are not allowed to post, and all users must adopt a flair.

If you are a trans person creating an account to post here, try answering some questions on r/asktransgender, etc. and waiting a little while before you post.

Don't Downvote Other Opinions!

This is a place for free expression and conversation and downvoting can stymie that discussion. If someone posts or comments something you don't like, post a comment explaining why, or scroll past it. If they break a rule, report it instead of just downvoting.

NSFW Content Must Be Tagged

Questions about sex, bottom surgery photos, stories of personal experiences, and discussions about porn or sex work are all acceptable, but please tag them NSFW for other users' comfort and safety.

Pornography is not allowed. This includes text, photos, and videos with the primary purpose of erotic entertainment. Pornographic content will be removed.
