r/hiring Subreddit Rules

1

Poster Guidelines

  • Minimum comment Karma of 25
  • Member of Community
  • Include full details on post
  • Mark as [Hiring] or [For Hire] & Use Post Flair
  • Limit posts of same kind to 1 per day
  • Paid work only (must be Hourly or Salary, no commission-only) — no volunteer or free services

Hiring: Be specific. Include a description, requirements, etc. You may provide a link to a job description, but provide details in the post.

For Hire: Include a portfolio or resume (or link) in post. No vague one line offers.

2

Prohibited Practices

Prohibted posts:

  • Do not include EEOC protected statuses
  • Nothing illegal (applies globally)
  • No "hiring" to enshitify the Internet: No renting out LinkedIn or Reddit accounts, no "hiring to spam" type posts, etc.
  • No Sharing personal info publicly — DM only
  • No Levering sad/personal stories to get hired
  • No Only Fans chatter-type gigs
  • No B2B posts. This is to hire or be hired not for companies to find clients.
  • No commission-based posts wihtout a base salary
3

No clippers, "easy tasks", Only Fans chatters, Know Your Customer or sign-ups, etc. posts.

Video clipping posts are not allowed unless the pay is hourly, then will be approved case-by-case.

No vague posts about "simple online tasks", as these are always scams.

No Only Fans (or other fan site) chatter posts. These are inherently scammy.

No pay-to-sign-up posts. That includes fintech apps, online casinos, and more.

4

Minimum wage of USD $15 per hour

Purchasing power parity is possible for jobs outside the US

$5 per hour Lowest depending on country

5

Commission/Contingency Work

No "hiring" posts wherein the pay is based on contingency.

This includes commission-only proposals, "find me customer and you get a percentage" posts, etc.

Any job offer that includes commission as part of the pay structure must include an initial base pay that is $15 US/hour or equivalent.

Violation reason: Commission Work
6

Payments

Pay in currency, not in equity or barter

No offering/requesting free work

No bounties/competitions/speculative work.

No "pay what you want" posts.

Obnoxiously low budgets and offers - for hourly jobs, anything under $15/hr - are not allowed

7

Job Aggregator Sites

We do not allow affiliate links (= referral links) or links to job boards or job aggregator sites. First time offenders would be permanently banned and messaging mods about the ban would be reported to Reddit.

8

No Bots

We do not allow the use of bots to contact members for any purpose. The intent of this subreddit is to facilitate business connections between two (human) parties.

Using bots as either a freelancer or hirer creates a negative experience for the users, and if found to be using a bot you (and your business) will be permanently banned and blacklisted.
