Engage authentically, treat each other respectfully

This is a great community with many awesome people, don't ruin that. Any negativity or unnecessary comments will be dealt with and possible bans will be handed out.

If you are new to datacenters, you must follow these rules:

• Ask questions in good faith
• Respect those answering
• Don't argue. This is not a debate forum

No Memes

No memes please, this is a serious sub. Images of your datacenter are allowed, but we recommend against posting anything that would violate an NDA. An accompanying writeup is encouraged but not necessary. Try not to make it a potato photo though.

Datacenter Related Only

Discussion about your datacenter, datacenter features, high-availability, networking, high-end storage, blades, other stuff that belongs in racks, questions you may have, discussion about applying/gaining your skill within the datacenter are all acceptable reasons to post. Unrelated posts will be removed. Questions about personal servers, data storage or gear that fits in under a dozen racks typically does not belong here; please consider trying /r/homelab or /r/DataHoarder instead

No spam, sales, or pricing posts

Advertising, selling, or asking how much to charge for goods or services are not allowed. Examples include: "Selling power, $xx per MWh", "How much can I charge for colo space?", "Is $xx a good price for Y?," "How much should I sell land to a datacenter company for?", etc.

Questions focused on understanding such as "Why does a datacenter infrastructure/service cost $xx?" are allowed, but will be removed if the moderators feel the poster is attempting to disguise a the disallowed questions.

Misc Rules

• Please do not submit content behind paywalls.
• Please do not submit links to streaming sites.
• Please do not submit links to crowdfunding campaigns
• No AI/ML generated articles, videos, or other AI-generated content
• No referral links
• Content the moderators are unable to review will be removed.

Self promotion/recruiting

Self promotion, including promoting your website, video channel, video streaming channel, and/or other sources you own or benefit from requires moderator approval

Recruiters and anyone else soliciting resumes, referrals, or other personal information must provide contact into through official channels only (eg. company website or company email, not Reddit DMs).

Please do not post resumes

No excessively broad questions

"How do I build a datacenter?", "What are common problems you face?", and similar overly broad questions will be removed

If you believe you are about to post something that violates a rule, please ask permission first. There is a chance that it will be allowed/approved but you must ask for permission first, not forgiveness.
