This sub is for serious and lighthearted discussion, including examples, of harms or potential harms from people interacting with AI systems. Meme reactions, bad faith arguments or content that becomes mean-spirited or overly personal may be removed and serious violators will be banned. Try using "I think/in my opinion" statements before anything particularly negative towards someone.

Don't Use Mental Illness as an Insult

Do not call specific users mentally ill with the intent to use diagnostic language as an insult, or post content that is purely mean-spirited, blatantly false, or lacking substantive value. Claims are allowed if framed respectfully as observation or hypothesis about patterns of behavior, but not as singular direct attacks on users. No attempting to diagnose people over the internet.

Screenshots must be fully redacted

Shared screenshots from Reddit, social media, or other content must have all usernames, profile pictures, flair, and identifying information redacted/blurred. Multiple, intentional violations of this rule can result in revocation of posting privileges. Exceptions are made for verifiable public figures or official accounts when relevant. Posts that misrepresent screenshots will be removed.

No linking or naming other AI-related subreddits

Do not link to, name, clearly allude, or otherwise direct users to AI-adjacent subreddits or accounts in posts or comments. This includes asking or offering to DM that info. Discussion of Reddit-wide patterns or phenomena is permitted when framed generally without targeting specific subreddits. Vague references (e.g., "certain subs") are acceptable. Crossposting is also not allowed.

Post only publicly available information.

Do not post or share content from others that have not themselves made it publicly available.

Don't interfere in this community or other communities

You're welcome to share and discuss content and examples of AI harms here in r/cogsuckers, but do not direct, coordinate, or encourage interference in this subreddit or other subreddits. Comments clearly attempting to do this through bad faith, abuse, or intimidation will be removed. Excessive or repeated demands that mods change the subreddit or rules will be considered interference.

No bait reposts or misleading screenshots.

Reposting obvious bait or presenting screenshots in a way that misrepresents content may result in removal.

No Spam or Promotion of Commercial Opportunities Without Review

You may not post ads or commercial opportunities in this subreddit without disclosure and approval. This will be considered spam and reported to reddit.

No language model generated posts

Assistive tools for writing or language translation are fine, posts featuring an image or post which contains an artificially generated image is fine, having a language model write your thoughts and posts are not. Please try to keep this in mind for comments as well. Bans may be issued for accounts that are mostly AI generated content.
