r/chrome Subreddit Rules

2

Keep it constructive

No rude, offensive or hateful posts or comments. Negative opinions are welcome and encouraged but they should be constructive (e.g., no pointless rants).

Good negative post: "The latest update has caused me loads of issues, is anyone able to help? I'm shocked this passed through testing!"

Bad negative post: "Google should be ashamed for making such a bad browser and they're absolutely incompetent. It sucks so bad and everything is so bad!!!"

3

Stay on-topic

Posts should be directly related to the Chrome browser.

Posts that mention other browsers or ecosystems are allowed, but the focus of the post must be relevant to the community.

Posts asking for help with other Google products, such as Google Search, will only be allowed if it’s directly related to the Chrome Browser.

Posts and comments that do not add to the conversation will be removed, as will those that are considered baiting or are intentionally controversial.

4

Spam and misleading links

Spam and misleading links, such as "Top 10 Chrome Extensions" blogs, are not allowed and will be removed. This includes misleading web pages, spam sites and clickbait.

Link shorteners are discouraged and may be caught in the spam filter.

In addition, links to content should not be editorialized. If posting an article, video, etc., use the original title of the linked content as your post title and link directly to the original content.

5

Effort must be made when requesting and providing help

Effort must be made in the post title and body. If requesting help, the post must be clear and easy to understand, otherwise nobody can be expected to help.

Making it easier to understand helps other users in their effort to help you.

Likewise, we expect that all attempts at responding to troubleshooting posts are made in good faith. We do not allow the usage of AI-generated content for support.

6

Self-promotion

Self-promotion, such as a developer or content creator wanting to promote their work, is only allowed when approved by a moderator. Send us a modmail for more info.

Promotion of Chrome extensions is not allowed at this time. Please try r/chrome_extensions instead. No requests to promote extensions will be accepted.

External social media links will be auto-removed.

7

Complaints towards decisions made by Google should be directed to the proper channels, not here.

8

No NSFW content

This is a subreddit for everyone! NSFW content is not allowed, which includes excessive swearing, links to NSFW sites, and screenshots that have visible tabs/bookmarks to NSFW sites.

9

Mods have final say

Moderators reserve the right to mute and ban anyone they see fit, and remove any post or comment at their own discretion.

If you wish to appeal a decision, then contact us via modmail. DM requests will be ignored or redirected.
