r/chinatravel Subreddit Rules

1

Stay On Topic

Posts must be about traveling within China. No general political debate, news, or memes. Politics is fine only where it directly affects travel, such as visa policy, permit-only regions, and connectivity.

2

Search First, Ask with Details

Check the wiki before posting. Common topics like mobile payments, VPNs, eSIMs, and visa-free or transit rules come up often and may already be answered. When you ask, include what's needed to answer you, usually your nationality, travel dates, and cities. Low-effort posts may be removed.

3

Real, First-Hand Experience

This sub runs on genuine trip reports, not generic guides. Broad tip lists ("10 things to know before you go") bury the specific posts people come here for. Write from your own travel. AI-generated, secondhand, or repackaged accounts aren't welcome. Older trips are fine if you date them.

4

Share Photos in the Right Place

Photos are part of what makes travel worth sharing, so you're welcome to post them in the comments, in the forum channel of our official Discord, or on our official Instagram. What we don't allow is direct image posts to the main feed, which keeps it focused on trip reports and discussion.

5

Be Respectful

No personal attacks, hate speech, racism, or harassment. Discuss cultures and nationalities in good faith.

6

Travel Safely

Don't post sensitive personal info, real-time location, or full live itineraries. Don't ask for or give advice that could get a traveler hurt or into legal trouble.

7

No Self-Promotion, Spam, or Recruitment

Don't promote your own sites, channels, or services without mod approval. Don't advertise or recruit for unaffiliated outside groups.

8

Enforcement

Reddit's sitewide rules apply alongside our own. Some removals come from Reddit's systems, not our mod team, and are outside our control. Otherwise, breaking a rule usually means removed content. Bans are reserved for repeat or bad-faith behavior, and are immediate for severe cases like hate speech or illegal content. These rules can't cover everything, so mods may act against anything that breaks the sub's spirit. Modmail is the only way to reach the team; other channels aren't monitored.
