Related to visiting Kyoto
All posts must be related to visiting Kyoto(either Kyoto city or prefecture) ~ and nothing but Kyoto.
Be courteous all times
Please be courteous to other posters. Bear in mind many visitors to Kyoto aren’t familiar with how/why things are done differently in Japan so kindly explain if necessary
No ‘low effort’ posts - do your due diligence 1st!
Kindly ensure you’ve done some googling (or similar) before posting. If a simple Google can answer a question in a post, it reflects a lack of respect for those who contribute here by asking them to do all the leg work. e.g. If you’re not sure which hotel to stay at in Kyoto use TripAdvisor and then come back here with any unanswered questions! Similarly, itinerary checks are fine but don’t ask other sub members to build one for you.
Say ‘thank you’
Show appreciation for the time and effort someone has taken out of their busy day to assist you. Show appreciation by thanking other users for their contribution toward helping you. As you’ll be coming to Japan (if not already here) it’s best to get used to doing this now! When in Rome and all that …
No ‘is it worth it?’ posts.
We often get posts about doing/visiting somewhere/something asking is it ‘worth it?’. This is very subjective making it practically unanswerable. Instead please ask what the pros/cons to a place or activity is and make up your own mind based on the feedback received.
No promotional posts
Do not post on this sub for the purpose of promoting your business or social media account(s).
No photo albums
Please refrain from posting photos to the sub as if it’s a photo album of sorts - that’s what Instagram is for. However, by all means share great photos of Kyoto but please post at least 3+ each time and ensure they are respectful of other people’s privacy in accordance with Japanese law - and if you’re unclear what that is then look it up.
