Two Quality Reviews First: Every Time You Post (Critique Requests and Available for Work Flairs)
This is a community and group participation is necessary. If you post to ask for help or advertise your thumbnail services, please help others. Leave a comment on TWO separate, recent Critique Requests, Polls, or Available for Work flair posts with constructive/quality feedback to help your fellow Creators. Low-effort comments will not be accepted.
Please see the "Thumbnail Guidelines" post pinned to the top of the subreddit for constructive feedback ideas.
Video Title and Short Summary in the "Body Text" field (Critique Requests)
In your post's "body text" write Title: followed by the video's YouTube title and Summary: before a brief summary of your video. Example points: Faceless/Talking head/Avatar? Let's Play/Review? Humorous/Serious? What will people get out of the video? Who are the audience?
(If your post contains multiple thumbnails versions, it may be appropriate for different title suggestions for each one.)
One video per critique request.
Please, keep each post to one video's thumbnail (or thumbnail variations). Since we evaluate the whole package, title, video summary, and may need a deep dive on questions about your video, keep each post specific to one of your channel's videos.
If you think it would be helpful to provide a swatch of your other channels' videos, you can do so as a second image.
Thumbnail Images Only, No Video Links or Channel Mentions (Critique Requests)
When asking for feedback, submit an image post with your thumbnail. You can include multiple variations, but only if they're for the same video.
Don’t mention/include links to your YouTube channel or video. This subreddit is for image-based feedback.
Limit "Updated Thumbnail" posts (see rules)
To keep the subreddit clean, and avoid clutter dominated by thumbnail updates, please post any revisions as a parent comment on your original post, with the updated image attached. Or, you can reply directly to users who gave feedback, or tag them.
If you feel a new post is necessary, please request mod approval first, if it hasn't been more than 24 hours since the original post or the thumnail isn't greatly revised.
(Give two additional review comments to others before every new post.)
Use Appropriate Flair
Thumbnail Help/Critique Request: Upload a thumbnail or multiple variations for the same video for feedback. Tips and Tricks Share thumbnail tips, articles, or videos. Discussion Topic discussions. Do not post your own thumbnails Question: Ask general and technical questions about YouTube thumbnails and titles. (Not for your own thumbnail feedback) Available for Work: Offer thumbnail and title-related services. Hiring/Help Wanted: Post thumbnail-related job opportunities.
No Video Links or Promotional Comments or Posts Outside the “Available for Work” Flair
Do not include links, channel plugs, or language intended to gain subscribers or customers, nor "indirect advertising language" such as "I made this for a client", in any flair other than the "Available for Work" flair.
A maximum of 1 "Available for Work" post every 2 weeks allowed. (And, two feedbacks to others required per post.)
Strictly no ads for AI or auto-design apps allowed.
Educational thumbnail design resources (courses, books, guides) are permitted (non-AI only).
Tips: Use Image Post-Type and Ask a Question in the Title
Here are two tips to help your post get reach to other Creators.
- Ask a question in the title. Write the video title and short summary in "body text" area.
A title like, "How can I improve my thumbnail?" helps others outside the subreddit know why you are posting and increases reach.
- Switch the post type to image
Your thumbnail image won't show up in people's feeds if you use the normal post-type with embedded image.
- Reply to comments right away. Active conversation boosts reach.
