r/QuantifiedSelf Subreddit Rules

1

No App or Product Promotion Outside the Weekly Megathread

All promotion of apps, tools, services, dashboards, or any commercial/open-source project must be confined to the Weekly Self-Tracking Tools & Apps Megathread (posted every Monday). This includes:

Direct links to app stores, landing pages, or GitHub repos for your project Posts or comments that exist primarily to drive traffic to your product "Feedback request" posts that are thinly veiled launches Posting your app multiple weeks in a row in the megathread without meaningful updates

2

No Self-Promotion Spam

If the majority of your post history in this subreddit consists of promoting the same product or project, you will be considered a spammer regardless of where you post. Reddit's general guideline applies: no more than roughly 10% of your contributions should be self-promotional. Engage genuinely or don't engage.

Violation reason: Rule 2: No Self-Promotion Spam
3

Posts Must Be Substantive

Every post should offer or invite meaningful discussion. Acceptable posts include personal experiment write-ups, methodology questions, data analysis discussions, hardware/sensor reviews, philosophical or ethical discussions about self-tracking, and requests for advice on tracking approaches. Low-effort posts will be removed. Examples: one-line questions easily answered by a search, screenshots with no context or analysis, memes, and "what app should I use for X?" posts with no detail about goal

Violation reason: Rule 3: Posts Must Be Substantive
4

Show Your Work

If you're sharing results, findings, or a personal experiment, include enough detail for others to learn from it: what you tracked, how you tracked it, how long, what you found, and any limitations. A chart alone is not a post; context is required.

Violation reason: Rule 4: Show Your Work
5

No Medical Advice

Do not diagnose, prescribe, or recommend specific medical treatments. Sharing your own tracked health data and personal experience is fine. Telling someone else what to do medically is not. When in doubt, recommend they consult a professional.

Violation reason: Rule 6: No Medical Advice
6

No AI-Generated Slop

Posts that are clearly bulk-generated by AI with no personal insight, editing, or genuine engagement will be removed. We value human experience and thoughtful analysis. AI tools used as part of your self-tracking workflow are fine to discuss — but the post itself should be authentically yours.

7

No Doxxing

Do not post personally identifiable information about other people. If sharing your own data, be aware of what you're revealing. We encourage anonymizing data where possible.

8

Follow Reddit's Content Policy
