r/OldBooks Subreddit Rules
Be civil
Treat others with respect. No insults or hostility.
Pre-1970 physical books only
r/OldBooks is for physical books printed before 1970.
Reprints from after 1970 of older books are generally not allowed, so please modmail us first if you have a reprint you'd like to share.
Don't post or ask for PDFs or digital versions of books.
No spam or low effort content
This includes posting the same thing more than once, unhelpful comments, poor quality images, bot and AI content, and undescriptive post titles.
Titles must be descriptive to help others search the subreddit. "Look what I found" and "This was my grandma's book" aren't descriptive enough. Include the book title when possible.
No jokes about dating.
Questions about values belong in the Book Valuation Thread
We now have a Book Valuation Thread! Questions about book values should be asked in there.
No buying, selling, or self-promotion
No selling, and no asking where to buy books. Attempting to sell books here will result in a ban.
No self-promotion. Don't post your own blogs, websites, or apps. If you'd like to share your work, send a modmail first.

No religious or political debate
Discussing a book's subject matter is fine. However, using a book as a springboard to debate or attack isn't allowed. What isn't allowed:
- Arguing about religion on a post about an old Bible
- Talking about current politics on a post about an old political book
- Telling OP they should burn their book from 1650 because it's offensive
