r/oldphotos Subreddit Rules
Posts of unique old photos (approx pre-1980s). Please include the year in the description
This rule will have some gray area on content being removed. Anything in the 1990's+ will 100% be removed. If you don't include a year in the post title and the photo isn't obviously OLD, it will be removed. Highly encouraged to stay no later than 1979 and before if you don't want your post removed in any sort of 'gray area' decision making to remove a post.
Refrain from posting commonly found historical images or celebrities. We'd like to see unique and uncommon photos here.
Photos altered by AI enhancement applications will be removed. Keep the charm of old photos
This includes images altered/created by programs like Remini, various upscalers, GANS, Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, OpenAI, and colorizers.
Be polite and civil. No tolerance for arguing, hate speech, racism, trolling. Ban to be expected.
No Spamming
Comparison photos to modern pictures will be removed (example: Do I look like my grandfather?)
The focus of this subreddit is old photographs, not anything modern or about yourself. Comparison posts lead to clout chasing or fishing for compliments, and do not fit the vibe of this subreddit.
Click the 'Report' button on content that breaks the above rules or send a custom modmail to notify
Provide proof to the mod team of any reports or complaints you have. If it isn't overly obvious, don't expect the mod team to take extra time to research an OP's past posts on your behalf or reverse image search if you think someone is a bot reposting or some other reason. Do us the kindness of filling us in on any details so we can make a swift and proper judgement.
