r/vinyltoys
This is a moderated subreddit. It is our purpose to encourage in-depth discussion about all things related to designer toys, art toys, urban vinyl, sculptural pop surrealism, or whatever similar name you use for them. And while the r/vinyltoys title implies that pieces produced in vinyl are the sole topic, all forms of contemporary art rendered as toys are valid, regardless of the medium used (including resin, plush/soft sculpture, etc).

r/vinyltoys Subreddit Rules
Have Fun (and Follow Reddiquette).
First and foremost, everyone should have fun on Vinyl Toys. To ensure this, please always obey the Golden Rule (aka reddiquette), especially concerning treating others with basic decency. A high level of discourse is expected here, so be thoughtful and compassionate to everyone. If you have to make a choice between being right and being kind, please be kind. Insulting, trolling, flaming, derogatory, or offensive posts or comments will be removed.
Stay On Topic.
All posts must be directly related to art/designer toys or whatever you wish to call them. There are other subreddits for postings about things that may be of adjacent interest to Vinyl Toys collectors, so please use them and don't post (or crosspost) here. Not allowed here are things like traditional & vintage toys, collectibles (such as Funko or other movie/tv show/etc licensed works), and even two-dimensional pieces by artists normally associated with the designer toy movement.
Direct & Informative Post Titles.
Post titles should convey the contents to readers, not requiring a click-through to discern the subject. When applicable, the artist and piece's title should be stated in the post's title. For example, "This is the coolest thing ever" should instead be something like "Huck Gee's Penelope McStompsalot Dunny is the coolest thing ever". If a linked article is written in a language other than English, denote this at the end of the post title with something similar to [in Japanese] or [Chinese text].
Avoid Duplicate Postings.
Please search the subreddit for existing postings before potentially duplicating subject matter. Similarly, deleting earlier postings to repost something is not allowed. Likewise, avoid adding links to additional sources in the comments of an existing post. The sole exception to this rule is a follow-up posting (or comment) that substantially increases the information about and/or understanding of the subject in question, which should be denoted by placing [update] at the end of the post title.
Maintain the Diversity of Our Community.
The Vinyl Toys subreddit is a community and not a promotional tool. Artists, brands, and bloggers are encouraged to promote their own creations and content here, but to ensure diversity for this community's members such posting should: (1) be restricted to only one occurrence per week, or (2) account for 1-in-10 posts to this subreddit. Attempts to skirt this rule, including through the use of multiple accounts and requesting others to post on your behalf, will result in a permanent ban.
Keep "For Sale" Posts Internal.
Excepting public service announcements of a brand or retailer running a "site wide sale" or other notable discount, all "for sale" items should be offered directly on this subreddit, including a photograph of the work and transparent disclosure of pricing. Links to eBay auctions or sale list pages are not permitted. Furthermore, items can not be sold until more than 12 months after their release.
Use Post Flair Appropriately.
When making a post, please ensure that you assign it the correct flair. A complete list with brief descriptions can be found here.
Curtail Off-Topic Comments.
The comments are meant to allow discussion regarding the subject of the posting, such as the artist, their work, or similar matters. Threadjacking (overtaking a post with unrelated discussion) should be avoided, rather one should start a separate post to encourage this new topic.
AI generated content is prohibited.
Posts made with generative AI is not allowed on r/vinyltoys. This includes but is not limited to: AI generated images, videos and audio made for promotional materials, 3d models made with AI tools, and graphic design for packaging and social media posts.
Violating this rule will result in the offending thread being removed and a warning or temporary ban. Multiple violations of this rule will result in a permanent, irreversible ban from r/vinyltoys.
AliExpress Links are banned.
Due to rampant abuse by bots, any links to AliExpress will result in a permanent, irreversible ban. This includes store pages, item listings, coupon codes, sale announcements, and "is this listing legit" posts. Attempting to circumvent this rule by posting the above in thread comments will also result in a permanent, irreversible ban.
