Be friendly
Personal attacks on your fellow Reddit users are not allowed, this includes both direct insults and general aggressiveness. In addition, hate speech, threats (regardless of intent), and calls to violence, will also be removed. Remember the human and follow reddiquette
Criticism and jokes at the expense of politicians, pundits, and other public figures have been and always will be allowed.
Use your words
Posts and Comments consisting of one word or just an emoji are highly discouraged as we seek to foster debate and conversation. As such they are subject to removal.
Must be directly related to Texas
This is r/Texas, so keep your posts and articles Texas-Centric. National news and politics are best posted on r/politics or r/news. And local news may be allowed on a case by case basis, but may be better suited to your local subreddit than the whole state.
No Personal Information
Doxxing and posting personal information, such as location, phone numbers, links to social networking sites, is strictly prohibited. Some social network info will be exempted on a case by case basis. The primary exception is BlueSky content.
No Spam
If most of your posts and comments are to your own projects, then you're taking advantage of our community and spamming. Please make sure you submit other things and participate on other people's posts. If you think your post might be considered spam, message the mods for approval first. Also, there are no petitions or external surveys allowed on the sub either.
No Reposting
Reposts will be removed, please search before you post. If you want to post another view of the same story, we ask that you contribute it to the comments of the original post. If there is a megathread about a popular story, please add your submission there. Should the original post be removed by a mod, then a subsequent repost is not considered a violation of this rule.
Do not message mod mail to request a reference post. This is your responsibility.
Political Discussions
This sub is for all things Texas, including politics. All political posts must contain an article, with a post title that matches the article. Political Campaigning, Individual Opinion, and Hot Take posts are not allowed, but you may post them in the weekly designated megathread.
Videos of Texas Politicians are allowed.
No Excessive Caps Locks
No caps lock in titles other than acronyms or initials. Comment and posts with a large percentage of all caps, are considered 'shouting' as well as annoying and will be removed. This rule also applies to comments that have been altered so that the text is extremely large for emphasis or to try and gain visibility.
No old news, biased sources, editorialized titles, or news tweets
News articles are fine, but must be no older than one month. Your post title must match the article title. You are free to editorialize in the body of your post or a separate comment.
Articles posted from biased or secondary sources will be reviewed and accepted/removed upon moderator discretion. Sites with hard leaning bias will be removed immediately. Additionally please use actual articles and not Tweets.
No confrontational user pings
Use username and mod pings (e.g. /u/username in a comment) sparingly and in a non-confrontational manner. If you're considering pinging someone to get their attention on something that they might be interested in, that's fine. If you're considering pinging someone to prove a point or continue debate, that's not ok. Excessive username pings can be considered to be harassment and may be reported to the reddit admins.
No Disparagement of an Individual's Disability
While you're free to argue against, debate, criticize, etc. the policies, ideas, politics, and character of any politician, please do not make jokes about anyone's disabilities. All such "jokes" will be removed.
Solicitations, petitions and fundraisers are prohibited
Selling or looking for a product, housing, a service, a school, or a job? Give your local classifieds sub a try, like r/austinclassifieds or r/houstonclassifieds. Otherwise try your local craigslist, FB marketplace or apartments.com because this ain't that.
This subreddit is also not Yelp. If you love or hate a business, post it elsewhere.
GoFundMe and similar are also not allowed except in extremely rare circumstances and require mod approval.
Petitions are also not allowed.
