Low-Effort / Off-Topic / AI posts

If you're going to have a take, you are expected to explain it. Posts that simply say "Far Cry _ is the best" don't add anything into the community, and will be removed as low-effort.

This subreddit is for things directly related to the Far Cry franchise. Random things that 'reminded you of Far Cry' will be removed.

AI posts will always be removed. This subreddit is for humans to communicate, not for you to show off a picture or game idea you had a Language Learning Model generate for you.

Please use the Search Bar (Common Topics)

In an effort to combat the same questions being posted on a weekly basis, we are asking that users please use the Search Bar rather than re-posting common questions.

Generic questions such as "Should I buy Far Cry?" or "Why do people hate 6?" can be answered by searching the hundreds of times these questions have been asked. However, common topics that have a modicum of effort put into them will be allowed.

Cheating, Hacking, Leaks, and Piracy is not allowed

Do not post or discuss anything relating to pirating the game, or general hacking / cheating in the game. We do not allow leaks to be posted or discussed on this subreddit.

Mods are OK.

Real-Life Political/Hot-Button Posting

Far Cry may brush on political topics, but this is not the forum to discuss IRL politics.

Spoiler without any spoiler tag/flair

Always mark spoilers if talking about specific story elements. Follow the formatting for spoilers, as shown in the sidebar. Also keep in mind that a person you're replying to will not see the spoiler tag in their message inbox so be considerate.

Do not post spoilers in the title of your submission.

A [SPOILER] tag can be added to the start of the title if spoilers are present.

Posts must be related to the Far Cry series

This includes all titles under the Far Cry name. Generic memes are not permitted.

Ads, Transactions, Charity, Contests, and Surveys

No advertising, selling, trying to buy, trading, or begging. Any user who wishes to make a giveaway, contest (with prizes), or charity post must receive approval from moderators BEFORE making the post.

Any surveys must be related to academic research and will be approved or rejected at the moderators' discretion.

Livestreams and Videos

No Let's Plays or walk through videos/streams.

Do not post unedited videos longer than 3 minutes.

Do not post your videos, streams, articles if you have not contributed to a Far Cry subreddit before (discussed, commented, asked questions).

Spam and Self Promotion

Shortened URL links (bit.ly or tinyurl.com) are not allowed.

Self-promotion or things you have a financial stake in are not allowed.

If your account primarily exists to post media and you rarely engage in discussion, then your content may be removed.

Link to original sources.

No referral/affiliate links.

AMA

The AMA must be from someone currently or previously employed in the gaming industry. Meaning, Game developers, Writers, Designers, Voice actors, as well as those with prominent roles in relevant gaming related companies. AMA's based solely upon having a youtube or twitch channel are not allowed, regardless of their popularity.

Public proof is required for all AMAs.
