Games must be cozy!
Any posts must be related to cozy games or ask for their recommendations.
In general, a game can be considered cozy if it meets the following:
- is relaxing to play and has little time pressure or harsh penalties,
- has comforting graphics that are either cute or use warm colours,
- is mostly peaceful with none or low violence.
Other terms, themes, and mechanics that can be cozy: cottagecore, friendly, farming, relationships, adventuring, crafting, and especially decorating.
Don't over-promote
We would love to discover new cozy things, but too much can overrun the subreddit.
Roughly speaking:
- please avoid promoting a cozy game more than once every 2 weeks (post more minor updates in the game development subreddits),
- if you are want to share a related thing to cozy games (eg: channel, shop), please first participate in the community and keep it to at most once a month,
- re-posting same or very similar content
- sharing changes too small (eg minor character design change)
Don't deceive
Do not trick players by posting about a game or cozy-related thing and pretending you are not involved in the creation of that thing. Likewise, do not lie about your use of AI - if you are challenged on it and deny it, yet it is clear that you are using generative technologies, your post will be removed for deception.
Don't be too technical
This is a sub primarily oriented for gamers, so very development-technical questions such as asking about specifics on your art style are a bit out of scope here. If you are showing full game footage and are asking for important changes, then it can be okay, but small changes or screenshots too early in the development process would be a better fit in places like r/IndieDev or r/gamedevscreens.
