Be relevant to the Codex technology

Posts must be directly related to Codex suite of tools. If the post is a comparison or question about other tech you need to share detail. If you want a recommendation because you're quitting Codex, try somewhere else.

High information posts get highest priority

Well-supported criticisms, reports, commentary are welcome and helpful. That includes details of your setup, prompts, what happened, screenshots, detailed experiences, reasoning, output, before-and-afters.

If you just want to vent and not actually be helped or want to help, the Megathread has lower evidence requirements.

More r/Codex comment karma = higher posting priority

Your post's chance of being prioritized on the feed increases as your comment karma on r/Codex increases. This is to help encourage community participation and sharing and discourage drive-by ranting. Find your r/codex comment karma here : https://old.reddit.com/user/<your username>.

This does not apply to showcases or any post with high effort useful information. If you help others, your opinions get higher weight.

The moderation of r/Codex is partly automated

The moderator bots' main priority is to find posts that are repetitive content or that are low effort. If your post is removed, it will be used to help provide a live status report on all user experiences with Codex, summarized and mirrored. Try the Megathread if you want your experience to be seen.

The moderator bot makes mistakes sometimes. (Tokens cost money!) So please send Modmail if you think it screwed up.

For problem reports with low detail, use Megathreads. For high detail, post to the feed.

Reports going to the feed will be deleted unless they contain evidence and validation (= enough detail for others to be able to reproduce the problem). You can now include pictures and video in comments. Note that low information report posts you submit will likely be mirrored in the Anyone Else incident archive.

Also if you just want to vent, Megathreads are the place, not the feed. People are trying to GSD here.

Check previous posts before posting

During system problems, the subreddit gets a lot of posts all reporting the same issue. Check the feed and the Codex Incident Noticeboard here before posting. This is not as critical if your post is adding new information.

Use the right flair

Your post might be deleted if it does not use the right flair. This particularly applies to complaints, usage limits or bug reports. If the bot decides your post is a complaint, it will change the post flair. Same for resets. People use flair to filter stuff they don't want to read. Attack OpenAI's practices. not its people.

Reasoned criticisms of the company and its practices are encouraged. Attacking individual staff personally, like any other subreddit reader, is not. Different standards may apply to some public figures. OpenAI staff are distinguished on the subreddit by the OpenAI flair. We welcome them here.

We will hold OpenAI to high standards of transparency on this subreddit. At the same time, we aim to make this subreddit consistently productive for all readers. The mods don't get compensated by OpenAI.
