r/buildapc Subreddit Rules

1

Be respectful to others

Remember, there's a human being behind the other keyboard. Be considerate of others even if you disagree on something - treat others as you'd wish to be treated. Personal attacks and flame wars will not be tolerated.

2

Full build list requests must have relevant information

This includes: budget, use-case, country of purchase, peripherals needed, and other requirements / preferences you have.

Lists generated by AI / LLM may be removed, especially if fixing them is considered more work than starting fresh

Violation reason: Full build list request with insufficient info
3

No piracy or grey-market software keys

This includes suggesting, hinting, or in any way implying to someone that piracy, or violation of license agreements is an option. If a license key is abnormally cheap (think $5 - $30), it is probably grey market, and thus forbidden on /r/buildapc.

4

No laptop or prebuilt PC questions

Submit questions or or requests for suggestions for laptops to /r/suggestalaptop, /r/gaminglaptops or /r/laptops.

5

No submissions about hardware news, rumors, or reviews

Submit hardware news, rumors or reviews to /r/hardware.

6

No submissions about sales, deals or unauthorized giveaways

For sales and deals, see /r/buildapcsales. Any giveaways must be approved by the moderators before being posted.

7

No submissions about retailer or customer service experiences

Submit retailer or customer service experiences to /r/PCRetailers. This includes talk about RMAs, retailers, sales people and all other things retail.

8

No titles that are all-caps, clickbait, PSAs, pro-tips or contain emoji.

This includes titles containing emoji, asking to be upvoted or not upvoted, PSAs, LPTs, "protips", "reminders" and all other common tactics attempting to draw extra attention to the title.

9

No submissions that are low-effort, memes, jokes, meta, or hypothetical / dream builds.

Memes and jokes are permitted as comments, but not as submissions. No joke advice (See Rule #13).

Violation reason: No submissions that are memes, jokes, meta, or hypothetical / dream builds.
10

No self-promotion, advertising or surveys

This includes self-serving/affiliate links, advertisements of your own services/content/fundraising, or begging of any form.

11

No selling, trading or requests for valuation

If you want to buy, sell or trade hardware you should do so on /r/hardwareswap. Price evaluations should be requested through /r/hardwareswap's Discord server. Discussions of privately buying, selling or trading hardware and/or software are not permitted.

12

No excessive posting (more than one submission in 24 hours)

To prevent spam and allow everyone to receive they help they want, only one post per 24 hours is permitted. If you are unhappy with the attention your post got, you can make a top level comment in the daily questions thread, otherwise wait until 24 hours have passed before posting again.

13

No intentionally harmful, misleading or joke advice

14

No bots or automated accounts

15

Ban Appeal

Ban appeals must be conducted via modmail. Any public appeals will be removed and rejected.
