R0: Be Civil
We encourage vibrant, good-faith discussion and disagreement. Mods will take down posts and comments that insult, demean, or dehumanize individuals and/or groups of people. For example, posts that:
- assign negative characteristics to large groups of people
- use dehumanizing language to describe groups of people — “infecting,” “infesting,” etc.
- or totalizing language (“XYZ always …”)
In short, be polite, don’t call names, and minimize conflict; mods will step in otherwise.
R1: Keep your excitement subdued
Keep your excitement subdued. Say whatever you want, but please remain civil and reasonable. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech of any kind, or deliberate disrespect/personal attacks from either side of the aisle will result in a ban at the discretion of the moderation team.
R2: Disruptive Content
Content is disruptive if it is actively trolling, or flagrantly off topic to the current post. Trolling posts are posts that are intentionally unhelpful or misleading.
News article posts that misconstrue a headline or make claims that are not substantiated in the article are considered particularly disruptive, as are any alterations to screenshots, photos or other media in order to create controversy or confusion. This is misinformation, and it is against r/Bellingham rules.
R3: Advertising & Group Promotion
Businesses can self-advertise on the 1st and 15th of the month. Local support groups, social groups, other nonprofit organizations, and unaffiliated community members sharing concerts or other events are not subject to this rule.
R4: Craigslist/For Rent Advertising
Reposts of Craigslist "for rent" and Buy-Sell-Trade ads are allowed once every 30 days. The poster's Reddit account must be at least 30 days old or posts will be removed immediately.
R5: Solicitation of Sexual Services
No solicitation of sexual services. The post will be removed and the user will receive an immediate ban without warning.
R6: Low Effort Content
In an effort to keep the content of this sub worthy, content that has been deemed low-effort by the moderation team will be removed.
R7: Reddiquette
Posts that do not follow correct Reddiquette may be removed at the discretion of the moderation team. This includes spam and reposted materials.
R8: Account Too Young/Karma Too Low
In order to keep the spam down, accounts must be at least 48 hours old and have at least 10 positive karma to post or comment.

R9: Affiliate Links
One Buy/Sell/Trade post may be made per account every 30 days. Affiliate links will be removed.
R10: No Problematic Social Media
The automod blocks links from social media platforms that:
a) do not employ transparent, universal professional and/or volunteer moderation and b) are a closed, centralized platform solely hosted and operated by a single legal entity.
That means that you will not be able to post from: X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Truth Social, Nextdoor.
If you want to post content from such a platform, you are welcome to use an unaltered, contextual, and searchable screenshot of said content.
