r/OpenAussie Subreddit Rules

1

Follow Reddit's Content Policy

Here: https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy

Violation reason: Violation of the Reddit Content Policy
2

Does it pass The Pub Test?

We have an open and relaxed approach to moderation. That said, if it wouldn’t fly in a pub, it won’t fly here.

All violations of The Pub Test are reviewed by a minimum of two mods before we take further action (if needed).

Violation reason: Violation of The Pub Test™
3

Moderate yourself first

If need be, we'll remove things that violate our rules, notify you, and give you the chance to change/correct it so that it complies, and can be reinstated.

Don't wanna change it? That's fine too, it will stay taken down. The power is YOURS!

4

Must be related to Australia

Local events, announcements, news, etc are encouraged, as are those happening globally, but they must have some sort of obvious, clear and relevant link to Australia.

Violation reason: Not related to Australia ('Straya)
5

No trolling/abuse/harassment

Talk about whatever you want, but be civil. As in, debate the point, not the person. Racism, sexism, personal threats, trolling, harassment and bigotry are not welcome here.

Remember: In an online screaming match, there are only losers.

Violation reason: Trolling / abuse / harassment
6

No AI or bots

This is a space for real, human discussion on factual content. That means no AI content, or propaganda, of any kind.

Bot accounts, post automation and secondary accounts used for ban evasion are also not allowed.

Violation reason: AI / bot crap
7

No low-effort/karma-farming

Posts must encourage good faith discussion, and those made with little to no effort will be removed.

Exceptional memes/videos are the exception, but they may still be taken down at the discretion of the mods if obviously posted for the purpose of karma-farming (or violation of other rules).

Violation reason: Low-effort / karma-farming
8

No overt/unauthorised self-promotion

Do some cool home reno? Neat.

Try and get people to sign up to your propaganda site/newsletter? Not neat.

We don't give a shit and you will be punted.

Violation reason: Overt / unauthorised self-promotion
9

No brigading users/other subs

Don't coordinate an attack on a user or a sub. That goes for shit-talking other subs by name (and/or tagging them), planned down-voting campaigns or message flooding.

This includes shit-talking OpenAussie or our mod actions in public. Mod Mail us if you've got a case of the feels.

Brigading is against our rules, Reddit TOS, and causes unwanted, negative attention for us.

Violation reason: Brigading a user / sub
10

No misinformation/overly-editorialised titles

Include references for statistics/poll images and news-related screenshots.

Lite title rewording for news-content is allowed for clarity, conciseness and engagement, but not for re-framing, pushing an agenda or spreading misinformation.

Give it to us straight, and save your opinion for the comment section.

Violation reason: Misinformation / overly-editorialised title
11

No repeated topics/info

First to get worms, wins: one post allowed per topic and/or story.

Similar posts will be removed and directed to the weekly, general mega thread. Newsworthy/major development posts can be approved at the mod's discretion.

Violation reason: Repeated topic / info
12

Serious flair means serious responses only

Top-level comments on serious posts aren't the place for jokes, sarcasm, or low-effort memes. Seriously.

Violation reason: Joke, sarcasm or meme in top-level comment on serious tagged post
13

Have fun. Or else

This is a space to talk about anything and everything related to 'Straya - not just hot political takes and the latest culture war BS.

So take a chill pill, touch some grass, enjoy some memes, whatever - just remember to not take everything so seriously. That's an order.
