r/NightLords Subreddit Rules

1

Posts must be related to Night Lords and the VIII Legion

We are all here to post and talk and complain about the sons of the sunless world! Specialist games, new models, new books, fiction and lore, theories and projects. We are not a general Chaos or general 40K sub.

If your warband (or secret loyalist insurgency, or whatever) is related to the VIII, you should state so up front in the post title, and make the connection clear. If you’re claiming it’s “official” - citation needed, from a GW product.

2

Posts must be flaired appropriately

If you want to post your models, or post discussion questions, then post to your heart’s content. If you want to post your blog, or your Youtube channel, or your personal website, we ask that you commit to being a contributing member of this community by following the 9:1 ratio. Use the appropriate flag for your submissions. If you have a weird post that you're not sure about, use modmail and ask.

Violation reason: Moderate your self-promotion along the 9:1 ratio.
3

No top-level memes

This isn't r/Grimdank. Image macros in the replies to a post are fine, but don't overdo it. We will remove them if they’re crowding out actual conversation.

Violation reason: No Pirated Content or 3D print infringements
4

No pirated content

We don't allow direct links to pirated rules (Wahapedia is a pirate site!) or miniatures. This includes recasts, as well as clear imitations or knock-offs of GW kits. If someone asks you where you got 'em, answer in a DM. Conversely, you want to know where someone got theirs, ask in a DM, not a comment.

Fully original, from-scratch sculpts not using existing GW assets that still comply with the theme of the sub are still allowed.

If in doubt, use modmail and check with us. We don't want to h

Violation reason: Meme not kept to Grimdank/etc.
5

No unapproved promotion of external communities

Because the staff of this subreddit cannot vet or vouch for what occurs on other platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter (sigh… X), Discord, and others, as well as other subreddits we do not allow the promotion of other communities without express prior approval via modmail.

6

Limit your self-promotion

If you want to post links to your blog, channel, social media account or personal website, monetised or not, we ask that you follow the 9:1 ratio. For every post you make linking to your own content, you make roughly nine substantial comments on other posts. Posting “Nice!” to nine random posts does not count. Engage. Contribute to the community before you advertise to it.

Violation reason: Overt self-promotion
7

Low-Effort Posts will be removed

Examples include: Pictures of unpoened boxes and books. Screenshots of retailer websites. Screenshots from the 40K app. Duplicate posts on the same hot topic (seriously, search before you post). Reposting the same WIP every time you put a new layer on.

Models must at least be assembled and obviously Night Lords, or have a pertinent instructional question (i.e. “What are these parts?" or "How do I get these resin heads to stay on?"). Pictures of a book need to be accompanied by discussion.

Violation reason: Low-effort post
8

Keep army list postings legible

Army lists should be exported from the app of your choice (WH40K app, New Recruit, etc.) and ideally trimmed, or typed out from scratch. We don't need to know everyone has a close combat weapon, and we don't want to scroll through three badly cropped screenshots just because “pic for attention.”

Violation reason: Bad army list posting
9

No AI Generated Content

Our community emphasizes original content created by our members, particularly handcrafted or personally designed works related to Warhammer 40,000.

AI-generated art or stories do not align with the focus on personal craftsmanship and skill development that our subreddit encourages. We invite you to share your own drawings, paintings, or models that you have personally created to inspire others, not those created by AI.

Violation reason: No AI Art
10

Don't be a jerk

The Night Lords are cowardly, cruel, ruthless little ratbags: that doesn't mean you have to be. Don’t get lost in RP. Treat each other with respect. If something sucks, explain why it sucks and how to improve it.

However, posts should always be considered open to feedback and constructive criticism. If you don't like what people have to say about your paint job, army list, or original character background, don't start a fight about it.

11

Respect the rules and the community.

If you want to appeal a moderator decision: same as Rule 10. Don't be a jerk. We do make bad calls on occasion, and a calm, rational explanation of why you think your post is cool and good might get you what you want. Unhinged and combative tirades in modmail, or making your grievances public, will not.

Respect the rules, and we'll all have a better community for it!

Violation reason: Respect the community
12

Keep the Toxicity Out (No Hate Groups or Ban Evasion)

We strictly prohibit content from, or organized participation in, communities identified as hubs for hate speech, brigading, or ban evasion (such as successors to r/HorusGalaxy like r/TheEyeOfTerror).

Konrad Curze despised corruption and lack of discipline. Bringing real-world bigotry, harassment, or "anti-woke" political drama into this sub is a violation of our rules. We are here to discuss the Night Haunter and the Long War, not to host refugees from banned hate subs.
