Practice Xenia

All other rules fall under this one. Xenia is an ancient virtue often translated as 'Hospitality'. It means be kind and courteous to all. Remember that there is a human person on the other side of the screen, and do your best to treat them as such. Excessive rudeness can result in mutes while outright cruelty may result in a ban.

No Bigotry

How about this:

Hecate is a goddess of the marginalized, the oppressed, and the outcast. As this space is dedicated to her, it also is safe for her people. Therefore bigotry will not be tolerated - this sub stands with those hurt by systems of oppression.

Bigotry is not a protected class: the paradox of tolerance is solved by recognizing tolerance is a social contract. If you are intolerant, we are not obligated to tolerate you.

No Proselytizing

This is NOT a ban on religious discussion. Proselytizing goes beyond sharing stories and myths about gods and their religious traditions. It means actively aiming to lead people away from their current worldview to be in line with your own. We encourage open discussion about how working with Hecate can be blended with other spiritual traditions.

NSFW Posts MUST Be Tagged As Such

If the post contains anything that would make you or your loved ones uncomfortable if you were to see it in public it should be tagged as NSFW. The post title MUST be SFW.

AI and Low Effort Posts, and Relevance

All posts must be directly relevant to Hecate and show more effort than just a passing thought. Make it obvious how your post is relevant. Use your best judgement - there is room for nuance.

Posts specifically asking about witchcraft or other forms of magic should also be clearly related to Hecate.

Low effort posts will be removed.

AI generated content is always to be considered low effort. This includes art as well as lists, stories, rituals, etc...

No Self Promotion or Spam

This includes links to your styore, blog, Discord server, subreddit, coven, etc.

If you believe that what you are promoting is so good that it absolutely must be shared then please message the mod team.

This does not include posting about relevant products that you have no affiliation with.

Mod Discretion

This subreddit is actively moderated. In order to make this space work, we need the space to do our jobs. If you have a concern about how a rule is being implemented, interpreted, or enforced, please reach out via modmail. These rules serve as guidelines for all, mods and users, but the moderation team has final say on enforcement, implementation, & interpretation of rules.

Ultimately, we reserve the right to use moderator discretion and do what we think keeps our community safe and productive.
