r/Fighters is not about real fighting

This subreddit is about a community of fighting video game players. Posts mentioning street fighting, combat sports, real-life promotions and events, are off-topic in r/Fighters.

This subreddit concerns the community supporting a specific list of video games from the fighting game genre. Users repetitively posting off-topic content can be temporarily and/or permanently banned from r/Fighters.

This subreddit is about the Fighting Game Community

r/Fighters is the subreddit of the Fighting Game Community. The Arcade-focused nebula of groups, present around the world. The community was never about all fighting games. Specific fighting game subgenres (Platform Fighters, Arena Fighters and Combat Sport Simulations) have their own communities outside the FGC. Posts about content surrounding those subgenres are off-topic in r/Fighters.

The Grudge Match Rule

If two members of the subreddit have beef, they have the option to settle their beef by playing a set in whatever fighting game they choose. The loser will be banned from the subreddit for 3 days.

The match must be recorded and posted to r/Fighters to validate the results and for our entertainment.

Self-promoted content is restricted

This subreddit limits content shared by their own creators.

If a post was cross-posted in several other subreddits, and/or lacked any interaction with r/Fighters users, the post will be removed.

FGC-related essays are allowed on r/Fighters. Content heavily based off one specific game should be posted to the subreddit representing the game's series.

If you still want to cross-post, subs like r/fightinggamesvideos are better suited.

Content vulturing and karma farming is prohibited

Make sure to only post the content and videos, coming from their respective original sources. Posts linking content that are published by unofficial sources will be removed.

r/Fighters will not help promoting content vulture, especially on stolen competitive content (tournament footage), and stolen promotional content (trailers).

Users who are suspected of posting only for the sake of building karma and not actively engaging in the community are subject to having their posts removed.

Bigotry, harassment and low-quality trolls are not allowed

Any form of bigotry is prohibited, including but not limited to racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, misogyny, etc. Moderators can and will remove posts, and ban users for posting content that harass, threaten, dox or slander specific scenes, groups or individuals, in or out the FGC.

We will also use this ruling to adress poorly written threads, being posted for the purpose of either mocking people, or making fun of an unprovoked incident.

Item-selling, giveaways and illegal file sharing are prohibited

This subreddit is for discussions only. Not about selling goods. r/hardwareswap, or others subreddits related to selling, are better places for this.

The same goes for code giveaways. r/GiftOfGames, or other subreddits related to giveaways, are better suited for that kind of posts.

Asking for illegal ROMs is also prohibited, since it's illegal, and transgresses various copyright laws in different countries.

No Spoilers in Titles or Comments

Spoilers are results and winners of events, told less than 3 days after their end. Spoilers in the comments are only allowed if they use the Spoiler tag.

Steam Charts-Posts will be removed

Posting screenshots of Steam Charts to show that a game is “dead” or “dying” is prohibited and such posts will be removed.

This also applies to comparing live streaming views for the same purpose (Twitch, YouTube, etc).

If you're interested by the data, we've linked the OpenFGC site within our Resources buttons on our side-bar.

AI-Generated Images will be removed

AI-generated images are prohibited. They will be deemed as low-effort content and removed. If you want to post art, it must have been created by an actual human.

Discussion thread topics as their own post are restricted

This subreddit restrains people from asking basic questions asked too frequently (“what fighting game should I play, who should I main, what’s the best controller, who’s your favorite/least favorite character, what’s the best/worst game ever,” etc), as their own separated posts.

We have a weekly discussion thread for those kinds of posts, but we do still allow topic-related posts as their own in r/Fighters.

This is not a mental health subreddit

Fighting games are hard and it sucks to feel like you aren't improving at a game that you love.

But you shouldn't tie your self-worth to video game. First and foremost, games should be fun. If you aren't having fun, then it's okay to stop playing.

We are not therapists. We understand the need to vent, but if you are experiencing thoughts of depression or self-harm, seek professional help. You likely have deeper issues that we are not qualified to address

Not Safe For Work content is restricted

Not Safe For Work content must be tagged as such by the one who posted it or it will be removed.

Actual porn (visible genitals, nudity, depictions of sexual activity) is prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.

We advice r/EVOmoment34 if you want to post those kinds of pictures on Reddit.

Please credit the original artist

If you post a work of fanart that you did not create, you must credit the original creator

Twitter/X links are banned

The platform known as "Twitter" (now X) has been mismanaged, lacks moderation, and allows users to promote misinformation and hate speech. Which is no longer compatible with the FGC's values.

This rule was decided by subreddit vote via a poll. Screenshots of Twitter posts are still allowed.
