r/Equestrian Subreddit Rules

1

Empathy

Begin by assuming good faith when interacting with other community members.

Treat others as you would hope they would treat you.

Give others the benefit of the doubt, and be mindful of everyone's right to personal dignity.

Remember that we are all part of a shared community.

Violation reason: Abuse, bullying, or harassment
2

Authenticity

If you post images, videos, or narratives as your own, they must genuinely belong to you.

If you are posting material that belongs to someone else, you must have that person's permission, or the material must be in the public domain.

If you make statements on matters of fact, you must have reasonable grounds to attest their truthfulness.

Posts made in good faith to discuss controversial subjects are welcome. Posts made only to excite anger are not.

AI-generated materials are not permitted.

Violation reason: Impersonation and Copyright Infringement
3

Relevance

Content posted to this community must be genuinely related to Equestrianism.

We take a broad, highly inclusive view of relevant content. We only exclude clearly irrelevant material, or material that amounts to empty spam or political propaganda.

We advise against seeking or offering legal or (human) medical advice, which is beyond the scope and expertise of our community.

Violation reason: Content not genuinely related to Equestrianism
4

Inclusion

This is an inclusive community, that draws us together around our shared passion for equestrianism. Posts and comments should advance that mission.

We do not permit content that is intended or likely to degrade, demean, or promote hatred against individuals or an identifiable group.

In particular, we do not permit content that belittles people or groups or strips them of dignity, on the basis of ethnicity, faith, gender, national identity, race, sex, or sexual orientation.

5

Sensitivity

Posts that display animal or human injuries or distress are permitted only if they serve bona fide, constructive purposes (eg, discussing treatment techniques, demonstrating the course of healing, providing genuine and useful cautions about risks).

Posts that are graphic or upsetting should be made only with restraint and caution, and must be labelled NSFW.

6

Non-Profit

We permit honest and dispassionate discussions of equestrian products, but do not permit posts that masquerade as questions or comments to promote sales (eg, via affiliate links).

We do not allow posts or comments whose primary purpose is to solicit sales, donations, or contest entries. In exceptional instances, such as natural disasters or armed conflicts, the subreddit itself may feature vetted responding organisations.

Violation reason: Solicitations for Sales or Donations
7

Blogs and Vlogs

Links to the poster's own blog, vlog (video channel), or web site are permitted in moderation.

However, in line with Reddit's overall guidelines, they should not exceed more than 10% of a poster's contributions to our subreddit. They should also be made for the purpose of contributing to community discussion, and not simply to promote the blog, vlog, or web site.

Violation reason: Blogspam and similar
8

Social Media

Links to posts at external social media accounts (eg, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube) are permitted.

However, posts whose primary purposes are to solicit subscribers or followers for social media accounts are not permitted.

Violation reason: Social media spam
9

Bona Fide Research and Surveys

Posts that solicit participation in a research project or a survey must contain a comment from the poster, explaining: the purpose of the research; a statement (preferably with a link) that the project has been approved by the ethics committee or other oversight body of any sponsoring university or institution; an explanation of what will be done with the results; an indication of whether this research is for a for-profit or a not-for-profit entity; and a statement of privacy policies.

Violation reason: Uncertified surveys and research
