Be Kind
BE KIND. Everyone comes with their own level and experience. No question is "stupid" and disrespect will not be tolerated. DOWNVOTES ARE NOT DISLIKES. Do not downvote a post simply because you do not agree with it.
!!!Rude comments are subject to immediate permanent ban.
Baking-Related Questions Only
First and foremost this is a baking related ask and discussion sub! We are here to help you with your woes, questions, or concerns. Please limit your posts to this area. We will allow critiques as long as there is an obvious concern/question. This is not your platform for showcasing finished products. See r/baking for that!
Recipe Requests ONLY in Monthly Thread
AskBaking is designed to help bakers who are struggling with issues that arise during the course of baking. However, sometimes you just hit a roadblock and need a new recipe STAT. In those instances, please look to our monthly Recipe Request Mega-Thread to request a recipe. This means any posts asking for recipes or recipe books or blogs will be removed. Additionally, any posts asking for ideas of what to bake will also now be redirected.
Flairs
To help keep order and assist others in locating specific topics, we require all posts to be flaired. Unflaired posts will be removed by AutoMod after 24 hours.
Use The Search Feature
While we certainly don't mind answering questions, you can often receive immediate help by utilizing the search bar and using keywords that relate to your issue. If we feel that you have not properly utilized the search bar, we may remove your post and encourage you to do so.
Low effort posts will be deleted
Any post that asks “What’s wrong with my xxx” or for help on why their bake failed MUST post the recipe and steps. Those that do not will have their post deleted or locked until re-submitted. Posts with a generic “critique my xxx”or “how does it look” will also be deleted. Specific questions must be asked. In addition, questions like “Is this Raw” or “Is this a good recipe” will also be removed. Any posts asking for baking ideas are also not allowed. Each post must contain a question.
No Pricing, Courses, or Businesses allowed
Posts related to pricing products or how to sell a product will be deleted. Any posts relating to starting a business will not be permitted. Similarly, any post about baking courses/schools/jobs will also be removed. Please find an alternative subreddit for such questions.
Note that any legacy posts prior to this rule added are still available for searching.
No Soliciting/Self-Promo/Surveys
No soliciting or advertising is allowed in any form. This includes selling services or products, survey links, or looking for any service to be provided. Promoting a brand or your own blog is not allowed.
No Update Posts
Please do not make a new post for “updates” from a previous question posted. Please include the update in your original post
No NSFW/Inappropriate Comments
We are not an NSFW subreddit and ask that posts and comments are kept PG. This includes both sexual and violent content. Transgressions may result in a ban.
No Spam Posts
Spam is not allowed. Along these lines, if you have multiple questions, they should be in the same post. Posts by one user more than twice a day will be deleted.
No Recipe Suggestions
As we are trying to facilitate more answers within the MegaThread, comments on posts with recipe suggestions will be filtered out by automod (and will be pending approval by manual review) and deleted. Multiple rule breaks will result in a ban.
No Identification Posts
Posts asking to identify a dessert/baked product are not suitable for r/askbaking. Please use a different subreddit.
AskBaking is for questions on how to make said product.
Include Recipes in the Post
Always include the full recipe (ingredients and instructions) or the direct link in your post if you are asking for troubleshooting advice on a bake. Simply naming the recipe does not suffice.
No AI
Any AI posts, images, recipes or comments will be removed. This sub does not welcome the use of it, and removal cannot be appealed.
